Mobius Loop

by Mankind Is Obsolete

supported by

Phillip O'Glass thumbnail
Phillip O'Glass A Mobius Loop is a ring that twists in such a way that only one side is exposed- like a one-sided die. No matter how many times you roll it, it always lands the same. It also presents an endless loop of itself, only differing in varying angles and perspectives. That is this album. Favorite track: On Fire Again.
GeN2Mo
GeN2Mo thumbnail
GeN2Mo Really good Alternative Metal with a punk-ish attitude and quite some Industrial influence, reminding a bit of a nastier version of Birthday Massacre at times.
But what really struck me about this is a certain 80s dark poppy vibe that gives it an entirely unique appeal. Favorite track: Lock and Key.
Stitch
Stitch thumbnail
Stitch From start to finish, Mobius Loop is a glorious sequence of dark brilliance.

The album opens with "On Fire Again" and feels like a triumphant return after darker days, followed by "Lock And Key" which stands as a perfect blend of chaos and anger while "Garden Of Eden" is All About Eve/Auf Der Maur's gritty love-child. "Writing On The Wall" is a track I've had on audiobinge. There's just something about it.

Haunting synths, genius percussion & vocals that weave stories of chaos and hope. Favorite track: Writing on the Wall.

Chorus: I don’t know how to start again Never knew how to just say when I want to feel again, breathe again, Light this heart on fire again I don’t ever want to break again, I don’t ever want to lose again, I want to fly again, try again, And feel my heart on fire, on fire, on fire again Walls are broken, Split in two, No heart, no mind, no trace left of you Here in this place, Here in my doubt, Can I find my way out? Find my way out? Chorus Twisting, turning, Darkened halls, No hope, Too late, Whispers that I’ve lost it all, Here in this place, Here in my doubt, Can I find my way out? Find my way out? Chorus

Lock and Key 02:33
Under fire, Lock and key Too many people have the answer They try to tell me Who I should be But I will serve no master ‘Cause what’s the use of pretending That you can’t stand up for yourself And what’s the point of living Don’t let them break you down Under fire Lock and key, Too much distraction and no answers Everywhere I’m told who to be But I will serve no master ‘Cause what’s the use of pretending That you can’t stand up for yourself And what’s the point of living Don’t let them break you down They try to break me, break me down A sea of voices where I could drown What to follow, What to believe, I won’t live under lock and key Don’t let them break you down, Don’t let them break you down, Don’t let them break you down, Don’t let them break you down ‘Cause what’s the use of pretending That you can’t stand up for yourself And what’s the point of living Don’t let them break you down

Lucifer's Song (free) 03:55
White field of snow, Drifting flakes blow below, I’m in a box buried deep So I don’t have to face you Can’t take past away, Can’t forget, You left me too long, too long in silence No words left to say, You forgot, You left me too long, too long in silence, too long in silence What do you want me to say? What do you want me to say? What do you want me to say? I think it’s too late My world’s on fire, I can’t go higher, And you won’t answer, You left me in the fire Can’t take past away, Can’t forget, You left me too long, too long in silence No words left to say, You forgot, You left me too long, too long in silence, too long in silence You reap what you sow And I’ve let you go You reap what you sow Now live in your own silence, your own silence Can’t take past away, Can’t forget, You left me too long, too long in silence No words left to say, You forgot, You left me too long, too long in silence, too long in silence

Sleepless nights left me spinning round and round, Late and lonely with my world turned upside down, One more day that I’ve somehow let slip past, Wonder if this night will finally be my last And how the night wind blows its sad song, We’ve been torn apart for so long And in these waking hours I wait here, Dreaming of the day you’ll be near The room is white and the walls are caving in Wonder if I’m here to pay for all my sins Can’t remember who I am or what I’ve done What I wish for most is just to see the sun You’re just a memory I’m in the night sea The dark’s come closer Can this be over? And how the night wind blows its sad song, We’ve been torn apart for so long And in these waking hours I wait here, Dreaming of the day you’ll be near
5.
Rolling down the blackened track, Been here quite the distance, Up and down, Falling back, Endless loop existence Going nowhere The train is moving fast Dreaming of somewhere, But I’m running circles in the sand Lost in nowhere, As time slips through my hands, Dreaming of somewhere, But I’m running circles in the sand Sending prayers for the rain, Smoke signs in the distance, But no one answers on this train, We just wait and listen Silence, silence, nothing more The sun keeps beating down, Wishing for the ocean shore, There’s nothing all around Going nowhere The train is moving fast Dreaming of somewhere, But I’m running circles in the sand Lost in nowhere, As time slips through my hands, Dreaming of somewhere, But I’m running circles in the sand
6.
Shadow Man 03:24
Run, run, run through the hallway Doors are calling me There’s no neon sign to tell me What will set me free Out of breath, Out of time, There’s no place to hide Shadowman, will you catch me if I fall behind? Through the dark, Across the sky, May this blaze reach to the blind Feel the cold hands creeping over, Feel their heavy weight, As I feel myself slip under, Thinking it’s too late, Sinking in the ground, I’m swimming, Bells are ringing now, He leans in to whisper softly, “Time to take a bow.” Through the dark, Across the sky, May this blaze reach to the blind, If the dark should leave me blind, May this blaze reach to the sky.
7.
A million ways to pass the hours, And yet I’m slipping, slipping away And how time weighs so heavy now Is life ever what it seems? Beyond the writing on the wall, I have no mask here left at all, Beyond the writing on the wall, I have no mask here left at all And then I count up all the ways I tried to be could’ve beens If I’m just a face that looks the same, Then nothing matters anyway Beyond the writing on the wall, I have no mask here left at all, Beyond the writing on the wall, I have no mask here left at all We are the writing on the wall, We are the writing on the wall, We are the writing on the wall, We are the writing on the wall
8.
Come a little closer, baby, The day has turned to night And we could talk for hours, Or just turn out the light The night is calling I wanna touch the sky Let’s get going We’re gonna fly, fly, fly I feel the tick, tock, ticking of time Sweet, sweet, Garden of Eden Little taste of the something that’s missing Fire it up, We’re gonna spin, spin Hold me close and feel the wind, Fire it up and feel alive again We’re gonna fire it up and feel alive again Garden of Eden, Garden of Eden (Can you take me to fly?)
9.
On the Shore 03:49
Sitting in the wings, I’m on the side, I’m watching life roll by All the faces swimming in and out, I wave hello, goodbye And I’m alone And I’m afraid Of what’s not here The boat is gone, I’m on the shore, I’ve disappeared Waiting on the ringside, On the outside, I’m just looking in, All the stories passing by, And I’m just weaving out and in And I’m alone And I’m afraid Of what’s not here The boat is gone, I’m on the shore, I’ve disappeared
10.
Crosshairs (free) 03:37
Johnny, Johnny, get your gun on, The kids are back in school, Johnny, Johnny, get your gun on, ‘cause God says you’re a tool Strap it on, Got your lock, strap, and barrel, Big man now, You got your cause and your peril Wind it up, Johnny, and take your blow, The world’s watching now, Your reality hit show Wind it up, Johnny, and take your blow, The world’s watching now, Your reality hit show Don’t want to hear your answers, Don’t want to hear your lies, Let’s end it all now, and preach that God said it was right, So fuck your guns, And fuck your might is right, War is not the answer, And death is not your almighty right
11.
Empty (free) 03:03
Each thought keeps spilling over, Each second bends, One too many thoughts to handle, Thoughts that never end Away, away I’m quickly reaching what I think is the very top, But more keeps spilling in, no matter how much I try to stop And just when I think I’m overflowing, I spill, I’m empty now, empty now with you I’ll let the waves crash over me, I’ll let the waters run, Thoughts are only echoes of the words we’ve overdone, There’s nothing left to say when the well has overrun, I’m empty now, empty now with you I’m empty now, empty now with you I’m empty now, empty now with you
